I studied electrical engineering, worked in powertrain development, and eventually started riding electric motorcycles. The second metric is battery degradation and residual value. Lithium-ion batteries lose capacity depending on charge cycles and temperature exposure. Looking at the data, remaining battery capacity after five years and 50,000km of use varies significantly by product, often falling somewhere in the 70-90% range. How this affects a bike's resale value needs to be evaluated on different terms than the wear of a gasoline engine. The third metric is TCO (total cost of ownership).
