Slight tangent, but Freiburg's development model is often cited as a reference point in Japan's J.League conversations. For a club this size to dominate like this is a point of pride that doesn't show up in the stats — it must have been a special night in that town, and I'd love to see the same scene here someday.
I watch every Freiburg matchday, and even I was surprised to hear this is the club's first-ever perfect start. Three of the five goals came inside a ten-minute stretch of the second half — they simply attacked the moment Gladbach's legs went, and the efficiency of it stood out most.
Engelhardt's brace is the kind of performance that shifts a player's valuation, in my eyes. Nothing's set in stone, but keep producing like this and his name starts coming up in January conversations. It's early, but worth watching where the interest comes from — no need to overreact just yet.
